The low interest in reading among children, which is frequently diverted by gadget use in the community, poses a distinct challenge in building a literacy culture, particularly at the village level. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of establishing a Reading Corner (Pojok Baca) and providing informal learning assistance by KKN students of STAI Brebes in improving children's reading interest in Rungkang Village, RW 03. Employing a qualitative approach, data were gathered through field observations and interviews with five parents. The evaluation results indicate that the intervention of child-friendly facilities, the read-aloud method, and interactive mentoring successfully diverted children's dependency on gadgets, enhanced their focus, and fostered reading habits. The synergy between field mentors and the family environment serves as the key to the sustainability of the village's literacy culture. Based on these findings, it is recommended that the village authorities and parents maintain the continuity of the Reading Corner program and independently expand literacy facilities to sustainably nurture children's reading interest.
